Group Vacation Bible School - Babylon VBS

Our Christian Education Mission:

By providing a Bible based program designed to transform hearts for Jesus, we are committed to nurturing rich relationships, serving all in love, while inviting all on a lifelong faith journey.

“Teach what you've seen and heard to your children and grandchildren.”  Deuteronomy 4:9

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy  Spirit”  Matthew 28:19

The children’s ministry at Palm Valley Lutheran Church is equipped with many faithful volunteers that teach the children (from birth through 5th grade) the basics of the Christian faith, help them grow in their relationship with Jesus and to enjoy fellowship with other children and their families.  For more information for Youth (6th-8th) please visit our Middle School webpage and (9th-12th) visit our High School web page

Nursery:  A nursery is provided for infants through 3 year olds and is available on Sunday mornings during all worship services and Sunday School (8 a.m.-12:15 p.m.) and on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. during Faith Night activities.   It is located in the Parish Hall and all who serve in the Nursery have completed a thorough background check to ensure the safety and protection of your children.

Sunday School: Children’s Sunday school is for ages 2 through the 5th grade. Sunday School takes place each Sunday during the school year from 10:15 a.m. - 11 a.m.  During the summer please join us for Family Fellowship in the Grove.  We begin with a short opening for all ages in the Parish Hall where the Bible Lesson is introduced, songs are sung, announcements are made, offering is taken and birthdays are celebrated. (Some of the older elementary classes go straight to class at the preference of their teacher.)  From there, all are dismissed to their classes.  We will be starting a new curriculum starting this Fall called Spark!  It is a Bible-centered curriculum that encourages kids to open the Scriptures and explore God's Word !

Youth Praise Team: If you are in 2nd-8th grade and enjoy singing and praising God through music, please contact our Praise Team Director for more information.  Practices are held the 2nd Sunday of each month at 9am and performances will be at the various church services at dates to be determined.

Summer Camp:  Camp is open to those students who have completed the 1st-5th grades. The 1st-3rd graders go to camp for half a week and the 4th-5th graders go for a full week. They both attend the Lutheran Camp Chrysalis in Kerrville, TX which is located on 77 acres in the Hill Country overlooking Turtle Creek.   Proceeds from the annual Churchman’s banquet go to help offset the cost of camps for members children interested in attending.

VBS: Vacation Bible School is held for one week in the summer in the morning.  VBS 2011 will be held July 25th-29th, 2011 and the theme is Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus was a Kid!  Participants are able to learn more about Jesus while experiences and activities reinforce the lessons and theme of the week. There will be a Thursday evening celebration where kids can share with their family and friends what they have learned in Nazareth.

Rally Day:  Rally Day is the kick off of our new Sunday school year and takes place the Sunday after RRISD school starts.  Children are promoted to the next Sunday school grade level, new teachers are introduced and installed, and 4th graders receive their very own Bible from the church.  We celebrate with church family and friends with a meal and games in the Oak Grove.  Plans are underway to also host our church’s Ministry Fair in conjunction with Rally Day.  It is a time for coming together as a church family, rallying behind all ministries of the church members, volunteers and staff.

First Communion:   When a child enters 5th Grade they are eligible to receive their First Communion.  Before doing so, the child and parents will go through a class with the Pastor where the basics of Communion are explained.   Classes generally meet on two Sundays in late October or early November and they will have their first communion on All Saints’ Sunday.

Children’s Christmas Program:  Each December the children deliver a Christmas Program telling the story of Jesus’ birth.  It is performed during the Rejoice Service at 9 a.m. in the CLC.   This event is lead by faithful volunteers who organize the students, songs, rehearsals and program. The 2011 Christmas Program will be held on Sunday, December 11th during the 9 a.m. service.
