 Children (2yrs-5th Grade)

The children’s ministry at Palm Valley Lutheran Church is equipped with many faithful volunteers that teach the children the basics of the Christian faith. Throughout the year there are numerous events that the children can be involved in.

Sunday School

Sunday School runs on the same calendar as the regular school year.  This means that Sunday school will start in late August and finish in late May.  Sunday School hour is from 10-11am with each grade having its own appropriate class.  Each class has its own curriculum prescribed for that age group.  In addition to the curriculum each grade learns something else as well.

Kindergarten: Learning books of the New Testament

1st Grade: Learning the books of the Old Testament

2nd Grade: Learning the Lord's Prayer

3rd Grade: Reviewing the books of the Bible and the Lord's Prayer

4th Grade: Learning the Ten Commandments

5th Grade: Learning the Apostles Creed

First Communion Classes

When a child enters 5th Grade they are eligible to receive their First Communion.  Before doing so, the child and parents must go through a class with the Pastor where the basics of Communion are explained.

Christmas Program

Each year during December the children's ministry puts on a Christmas Program that is performed during one of the morning services.  This event is lead by a faithful volunteer who organizes all the students, songs, rehearsals and anything else that is needed.

Summer Camp

Beginning in 1st Grade students are offered the opportunity to go to summer camp.  Camp is at Camp Chrysalis which is located in Kerrville.  At camp students go hike, swim, do arts and crafts learn about Jesus and much more.  The 1st-3rd graders go for half a week while the 4-5th graders go for a full week.

Vacation Bible School

During a week of the summer the church puts on a Vacation Bible School.  This happens during the day and runs from Monday to Friday.  At VBS students are able to learn more about Jesus while doing activities that relate to what they are being taught.
